We provide legal and social work services jointly to families, individuals, and groups on issues related to children and families. Our organization provides services directly to families and to practitioners and agencies that help families.

The Center for Law and Social Work is a non-profit organization made up of lawyers and social workers who provide legal and social work services to families, practitioners, and agencies in the Chicago area. We charge on a sliding fee scale or provide pro bono work for eligible clients in a supportive environment.
We Provide Family Law and Social Work Services to Families, Agencies, and Practitioners.
Our staff of full-time attorneys and social workers act together to provide many services, including:
- Legal assistance to people who wish to pursue child adoption and to those who have already adopted a child
- Review of subsidies for children who have moved from foster care to adoption, and Medicaid questions and procedures
- Child guardianships and standby guardianships, adoptions, standby adoptions, re-adoptions, stepparent adoptions, domestic and international adoptions, and backup planning
- Assessment and referral services for children with special needs
- Services and support to agencies, including adoption, child welfare, and mental health centers; the Illinois Department of Aging; illness and survivor support groups; and the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS
- Services to foster parents and foster parent groups
- Subsidies for children who have moved from foster care to adoption, and Medicaid questions and procedures
- Assistance to practitioners, including therapists, psychologists, and other social workers and lawyers who are working with adoption, family law, and social services
- Post-adoption assistance
- Juvenile court assistance
