Attorney and Social Work Family Services
Adoptive families, individuals providing foster care, and individuals and families caring for children with special needs often require unique family services. These services can be difficult to find, can be expensive, and are sometimes unknown to those whom they are meant to serve.
The Center for Law and Social Work was formed to provide efficient, cost-effective legal and social work services to individuals and families. Our mission statement is, "We provide legal and social work services jointly to families, individuals, and groups in issues related to children and families." Our organization exists to help families manage adoption, foster care, and children with special needs. Some services we offer directly are:
- Legal work for people pursuing adoption of children, including children with special needs
- Legal representation regarding adoptions, short-term and standby guardianships, re-adoptions, stepparent adoptions, international adoptions, and grandparents raising adopted children
- Counseling and other services to parents of teens
- Assessments and referrals for parents of children with special needs
- Education to people offering foster care, including information regarding available services, agencies, and counseling
- Assistance in transferring foster care subsidies after adoption
- Legal representation regarding child custody issues between birth families and adoptive families
- Assistance in arranging a backup plan for the care of children, including older and ill parents' children. A backup plan will help to ensure that the care of your child will be handled the way you want.
