Center for Law and Social Work Practitioner Services
The Center for Law and Social Work provides legal and social work services to individuals and families of the Chicago area. To enhance our service, we work with local practitioners to provide training and education on current law, government procedures, government and private programs, and other options available to families. We also work with practitioners on a case-by-case basis to share and provide adoption information and services directly to client families and individuals.
We Provide Training, Seminars, and Consultation for Practitioners.
Our training can involve an individual or a team of attorneys and social workers who provide a comprehensive overview, with materials, on the topic requested by the practitioner. We have provided training on backup planning, adoption, guardianships, foster care options and processes, child mediation, and available private and government family services. We also provide education to non-professional groups, including foster parent, adoptive parent, and grandparent groups.
We also work with practitioners to provide adoption information and services directly to clients. If a therapist encounters a family with a difficult adoption, we can help. Rather than remove the child, we may be able to work with the family to explore other options, including assistance by the extended family or intervention and assistance by the child's school. We will work as an attorney-social worker team to examine, present, and facilitate all options.

We can help practitioners who have questions regarding services and options for families in need.
